Trofeo: Maserati's most powerful collection

Since the launch of the powerful Levante Trofeo in 2018, Maserati has now added the new Quattroporte and Ghibli Trofeo to the Trofeo collection making this the most powerful Maserati collection ever made.

The Quattroporte and Ghibli Trofeo packs a mean 3.8-litre V8 Twin Turbo engine that produces 433kW (580 horsepower) with a peak torque of 730 Nm. The same 433kW V8 engine is available on the new Levante Trofeo. Now the Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo has claimed the title as the fastest Maserati sedans ever made, as it comes in at a top speed of 326 km/h. While the Levante Trofeo comes in with a maximum speed is 302 km/h.

On the exterior, we have the front grille that comes with twin vertical bars in Black Piano finish, as well as carbon fiber on the front air duct trims and rear extractor. The whole Trofeo collection is characterized by the red details added to the bottom profiles of the side air vents as well as the Trident badge on the C-pillars which sees the addition of a lightning bolt.

Some key changes can be seen at the rear of the car, as the light clusters have been restyled to incorporate a boomerang-like profile, this is largely influenced by the Alfieri concept car and 3200 GT. The Ghibli Trofeo bonnet has also been restyled, featuring two aggressive air ducts for better cooling, just like on Levante Trofeo. The Ghibli Trofeo comes with a restyled bonnet which features two air ducts for better cooling. The Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo come fitted with 21-inch aluminum Orione wheels. The Levante Trofeo keeps its 21-inch Orione wheels but now offers the 22-inch Orione wheels.

The interior comes with the latest Maserati Intelligent Assistant, as well as a multimedia screen that gets upgraded to a larger 10.1-inch display - bear in mind this is only featured on both Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo. The Levante will retain the 8.4-inch display but will still get an improvement in resolution and graphics. Both the new Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo comes with the Corsa button, which is set to make the driving style feel a lot sportier. Like the Levante Trofeo, the new Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo will incorporate the Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system and will include a Launch Control function.

FAQ

Q: What does the Maserati Trofeo cost in South Africa?

The Maserati Ghibli Trofeo starts at around R2,850,000 in South Africa, while the Quattroporte Trofeo will set you back approximately R3,200,000, and the Levante Trofeo comes in at around R2,950,000.

Q: How fast is the Maserati Trofeo collection?

The Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo are the fastest Maserati sedans ever made with a top speed of 326 kph, while the Levante Trofeo SUV maxes out at 302 kph, all powered by the same 433kW V8 twin-turbo engine.

Q: What makes the Trofeo different from regular Maserati models?

The Trofeo collection features a massive 433kW V8 twin-turbo engine producing 730 Nm of torque, aggressive styling with carbon fibre details, red accent trim, lightning bolt Trident badges, and 21-inch Orione wheels as standard.

Q: Is the Maserati Trofeo worth buying over German rivals?

The Trofeo offers proper Italian passion with 433kW of fury and sounds like thunder, but German rivals like the BMW M5 Competition offer better reliability and tech for similar money around R2,800,000.

Should You Buy It?

The Maserati Trofeo collection is absolutely worth buying if you want the most dramatic and emotional high-performance luxury car under R3,500,000 in South Africa. With 433kW of twin-turbo V8 madness, stunning Italian design, and exclusivity that makes BMW M and Mercedes-AMG owners jealous, the Trofeo justifies its R2,850,000 starting price for the Ghibli. Yes, German rivals might be more reliable, but none sound as magnificent or turn heads quite like a Trofeo roaring down the N1. If you can afford the premium and don't mind occasional trips to the dealer, the Trofeo delivers an ownership experience that's pure automotive theatre.
