Maserati celebrates a new era
2021 has gotten off to a rocky start for many but Maserati South Africa is choosing to look at things in a positive light by introducing a line-up of new models. The luxury Italian brand will be kicking off its new era with the Ghibli Hybrid being the first to be launched.
Nagesh Naidoo, the Dealer Principal of Maserati Johannesburg, says “It is only fitting that the Ghibli Hybrid is the first new model from Maserati to be launched in South Africa. It combines petrol and electric power, which is significant for the future of our brand, and South Africa was host to the hybrid testing mules during their hot weather testing cycle.”
After the introduction of the Hybrid, Maserati will then be shifting their focus to launching the Trofeo collection which will be the most powerful Maserati collection ever made.
“Last year we introduced – and quickly sold out – the Levante Trofeo with its bi-turbo 433kW V8 engine. This year, a new consignment of Levante Trofeo models is on its way, accompanied by bespoke versions of the Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo,” added Naidoo.
Both the Ghibli Trofeo and the larger Quattroporte Trofeo come fitted with a Ferrari-sourced V8 engine which will produce a whopping power output of 433kW. Both models will come in rear-wheel drive and can reach a top speed of 326 km/h.
If this is not enough to make one excited for 2021, then the highly anticipated MC20 super sports car will surely do the trick. Maserati has said that the MC20 (Maserati Corse) will debut mid this year and will arrive in SA in the last quarter of 2021. The MC20 has already been voted the World’s Most Beautiful Supercar at the 2021 Festival Automobile International and will come packed with an all-new 463kW V6 engine. Maserati has claimed that the MC20 can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
