Ford reveals their latest iteration of the Ranger Platinum
Ford has introduced their Ranger Platinum. What's so different?
Externally, the Ranger Platinum distinguishes itself with chrome detailing, accented 'PLATINUM' badging, and 20-inch alloy wheels. It features a fixed sports hoop, side rails, and a Cargo Management System for practicality, with optional powered roller shutters.
Matrix LED lights are added, shared only with the Ranger Raptor, and enhance visibility and safety, offering features like a glare-free high beam and dynamic bending lights.
Technology-wise, the Platinum comes with a 12.4-inch LCD instrument cluster, Pro Trailer Back-up Assist, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and a 12-inch centre touchscreen with a SYNC 4A infotainment system.
Under the hood, it is powered by Ford's 184kW/600Nm 3.0L V6 Diesel engine and boasts a full-time four-wheel drive for control on and off the road.
With an indicative price of R1,119,000, this launch follows the introduction of the Ranger Tremor, priced at R977,500, expanding the Ranger line-up with more choices for customers.
For safety, the Ranger Platinum introduces advanced driver aids, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Park Assist, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It also features far-side airbags, a first for the Ranger model.
Ford's Ranger Platinum and Ranger Tremor are scheduled to be available by the end of Q1 2024.
