This isn't your average restoration; it's a "continumod" – a brand-new car built from the ground up using original Ford blueprints and cutting-edge engineering.
Faithful to the iconic original, the Escort Mk1 RS "continumod" boasts a lightweight design, tipping the scales at a mere 800kg. This featherweight figure is achieved through the use of carbon fibre for the bonnet, boot lid, and inner structures, while reinforced steel forms the main body panels. Lightweight aluminium and titanium components further contribute to the car's nimble nature.
Under the bonnet, enthusiasts can choose between two thrilling engines. A motorsport-derived 2.1-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder unit delivers a heady 218kW at a screaming 10,000rpm, promising an exhilarating soundtrack.
For those seeking a more classic experience, a 1.8-litre "Twin Cam" engine producing 134kW is also available. Both engines are paired with manual transmissions – a five-speed dogleg for the 2.1-litre and a four-speed straight-cut for the 1.8-litre – ensuring a truly engaging driving experience.
