Ford Ranger Tremor new Off-Road Powerhouse in South Africa
Ford is expanding its Ranger line-up in South Africa with the launch of the all-new Ranger Tremor, following the recent introduction of the adventure-ready Ranger Wildtrak X. Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa, shared that this addition aims to enhance the appeal and capability of the Ranger, catering to customers who seek more excellent off-road prowess and those who enjoy customising their vehicles for overlanding adventures.
The Ranger Tremor Double Cab shares the 154kW/500Nm 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine and full-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system with the Wildtrak X. It also features the innovative Trail Turn Assist feature, which facilitates tight off-road manoeuvring.
Moreover, the Tremor introduces the Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance as a standard feature. This system will also be available on the upcoming Ranger Platinum and Ranger Raptor and optionally on traditional Wildtrak models.
In terms of style, the Ranger Tremor stands out with its black honeycomb off-road front grille, LED auxiliary driving lights, and various Bolder Grey exterior details. It rides on 17-inch Asphalt Black machine-faced alloy rims wrapped in 265/70 R17 all-terrain General Grabber AT3 tires with white lettering. Unique badges and decals further distinguish it from its counterparts.
Under the hood, the Ranger Tremor shares its powertrain with the Wildtrak X, and it boasts a range of off-road enhancements, including steel protection, tow hooks, and Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers for improved ground clearance and control.
Inside, the cabin combines high-tech features with practicality and durability. Water-resistant black vinyl seats with unique stitching, vinyl flooring, and advanced technology features like the Off-road SYNC Screen with a 360-degree camera system cater to both comfort and utility.
The Ranger Tremor's off-road capabilities are bolstered by its suspension upgrades, capable all-terrain tires, and a versatile drive mode system. It also features Ford's full-time four-wheel drive system with various drive modes for different terrains.
Safety is a priority with driver assistance systems such as Trail Turn Assist, Trail Control, and a suite of active safety features. The Pro Trailer Backup Assist with Trailer Reverse Guidance system simplifies trailer manoeuvring.
Ford will announce pricing closer to the vehicle's launch, and the Ranger Tremor will come with Ford Protect, including warranties and roadside assistance. Service and maintenance plans can be purchased for extended coverage.
With the Ranger Tremor, Ford is poised to offer a compelling off-road, adventure-focused option in its South African line-up.
