Its small, affordable, and stylish, introducing the all-new Toyota Agya

When you think of a small, affordable, and reliable car, you think of the Toyota Agyo but Toyota has now discontinued the Toyota Agyo. The Japanese brand has however found a replacement, introducing the just as small but more stylish Toyota Agya. Toyota hopes to shake up the highly competitive A segment with this new edition.

In terms of exterior styling, the Agya gets an aggressively designed front bumper. It also gets upwardly curving projector headlamps to emphasize its sporty appearance. It comes in a teardrop-shape and features a lens that acts as a magnifying glass to increase the brightness of the light beam for peak visibility. On the side, the door handles are colour coded, as well as the electrically retractable mirrors that neatly integrate the indicator lens. The back also features a roof-mounted rear spoiler and LED-powered rear lights. In terms of wheels, the Agya will ride on 14-inch alloy wheels.

The Agya comes with a nifty 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine that produces 49kW and 89 Nm of torque. It comes either in a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. To ensure that driver achieves a more fuel-efficient driving experience, the Agya will come with an eco-indicator.

Inside, Toyota has given the Agya a neat number of standard features. Such as power steering, climate control, electrically operated windows, and an auxiliary 12-volt socket to charge mobile devices. That Agya even gets powered up by a Push Start button and has remote central locking.

If you are after the audio equipped model then you will benefit from Agya’s double-DIN touchscreen multimedia unit that features CD, Bluetooth, auxiliary and USB connectivity. There is also an optional touchscreen audio system that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. When connected through a USB cable, both interfaces will display the screen of the smartphone on the infotainment screen and will link the phone’s audio output to the vehicle’s two speakers. This will enable easy to use navigation and audio streaming apps as well as telephony services.

Like all new Toyota models, the Agya will come with Toyota Connect, which will provide Wi-Fi connectivity to smart devices as well as a host of connected online services, it also comes with 15Gb of complimentary data. Once the owner is linked to the MyToyota App, they will be able to make on-demand service bookings, retrieve vehicle usage information (logbook), renew vehicle licenses, review tracking data, request roadside assistance, and much more.

To ensure that the Agya is always safe on the road, it will come with ABS (Anti-lock braking system) and EDB (Electronic brakeforce distribution). It also comes standard with driver and front passenger airbags. At the back is two ISOFIX mounting brackets that are used to secure the baby seats to the rear seat, while the rear doors get fitted with child lock. To ensure that safety is met throughout the vehicle, the Agya will also come fitted with an alarm/immobilizer.
