Suzuki Swift Versatility
The current economic climate means that many of us will be downsizing our lives, purchasing smaller homes, and finding more cost-effective forms of personal mobility.
Moving Swiftly along
Introduced to the local market in 2018, the Suzuki Swift has established itself as one of the most impressive budget vehicle offerings in the current market. Its low cost of ownership and variety of customisation options make the Swift a compelling choice. If one is looking at downsizing to something like a Swift, it is good to consider the versatility of such a vehicle, especially if your previous car is larger.
Our recent interaction with the Swift in 1.2 GLX guise has brought us to the conclusion that at R208 900, the feature-packed GLX model is a fantastic solution for those of us looking to downsize without losing-out on features and a degree of versatility.
Practicality
Being a hatchback, the Swift offers a great deal of versatility, allowing you to squeeze a surprising number of items into what is still a very compact car. The boot is a modest 268-litres but expands drastically with the rear seats folded flat, providing 579-litres of space. For those looking for even more space, the front seat folds down too, offering a total of 953-litres of space. The rear seats can also fold in a 60:40 split allowing for longer items to be loaded while providing seating for one or even two rear occupants.
During our time with the Swift, we were able to load two overnight bags in the boot with the rear seats in place and a 29-inch mountain bike with the front wheel removed. In addition to the loading of items, we also undertook a trip with four adult occupants where the passengers remarked that they had a good deal of rear head, shoulder, and legroom while the front passenger was happy with the capaciousness of the interior.
