Mercedes-AMG Reveals Exciting CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé
Mercedes-AMG is enhancing its product lineup by introducing the CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé, a high-performance entry-level coupé that blends the C-Class's agility with the E-Class's spaciousness. This sporty two-door model boasts a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine with dual charging, producing 330 kW (449 hp) and 560 Nm of torque (600 Nm with overboost). An integrated starter generator adds 17 kW (23 hp) and 205 Nm of torque, while the car features a 48-volt electrical system, AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, and AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.
Visually, the CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé embodies the characteristics of a coupé with a long hood, sloping windshield, and elongated roof. The front section, known as the "Shark Nose," showcases the distinctive A-shaped radiator grille and full-LED headlights. The front apron features an A-wing design with ample air inlets, and the car's profile is marked by flared fenders, a wide track, and 19-inch wheels (with optional 20-inch wheels).
Flowing surfaces, two-part LED lights, and round double tailpipe trims characterise the rear design. The optional AMG Optics package adds sportier elements like flics, a more pronounced spoiler lip, and a diffuser board. Inside, the CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé offers unique features, including a 12.3-inch digital driver display, an 11.9-inch central display, and dynamic ambient lighting with 64 colours. The integral seats in ARTICO-manufactured leather/MICROCUT microfiber feature AMG-specific graphics and contrasting red stitching.
Under the hood, the upgraded 3.0-litre inline-six engine delivers higher torque and efficiency thanks to optimised components and an additional electric compressor. It's complemented by a second-generation integrated starter generator, contributing to the car's 48-volt electrical system and hybrid functions. With the AMG Driver's Package, the vehicle can reach a top speed of 250 km/h (or 270 km/h) and features a high-performance brake system.
The AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission ensures quick and precise gear shifts, and the car offers five driving modes via AMG DYNAMIC SELECT. The AMG DYNAMICS system influences ESP and all-wheel drive settings for various driving experiences. The fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive provides traction and safety, while the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension offers agility and comfort with adjustable damping.
The CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé also features three-stage AMG speed-sensitive steering and standard rear-axle steering for improved dynamics and manoeuvrability. An optional AMG DYNAMIC PLUS package enhances the driving experience with features like RACE mode and a performance steering wheel with microfiber trim.
