After 14 years, the Bentley Continental GT has been redesigned from top to bottom.

It sports a new face reminiscent of the stunning EXP10 Speed 6 concept, a completely new interior, and an 8-speed DCT for the first time ever. Power comes from the familiar W12 turbocharged 6.0-litre found in the Bentayga, and here it outputs 467kw/900nm.

For the first time ever, it’s been equipped with launch control, and because of it - and the all-wheel drive - it will sprint from 0-100kph in just 3.7 seconds and max out at 333kph.

The elongated, flattened new body is made mostly from aluminium, and shares its underpinnings with the new Porsche Panamera. In fact, the new Continental GT has shed some 80kgs over its predecessor.

The four-seater Grand Tourer is expected to reach SA before the middle of 2018, and carry a price tag of R3 395 000.

Should You Buy It?

The best luxury grand tourer under R4 million in SA is undoubtedly the new Bentley Continental GT at R3,395,000. With genuine supercar acceleration (3.7 seconds to 100kph), a completely redesigned interior, and that unmistakable Bentley presence, it's a compelling package if you have the budget. The 80kg weight reduction and new 8-speed DCT make it sharper than ever, while the W12's 467kW ensures effortless performance. However, at over R3 million, you're paying seriously premium money for what is essentially a very expensive Porsche Panamera underneath. If you want the ultimate British grand tourer and money is no object, absolutely buy it. But if you're budget-conscious, there are faster cars for less money.
