Alfa Romeo turns 108 years old this year, and the Turin-based automaker has decided to honour their Nurburgring successes with two special edition models named the NRING Edition.
The NRING is only given to the two models that achieved some incredibly fast lap times at the Green Hell – the Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde which currently holds the record as the quickest SUV to lap the circuit, and the Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde that had its fastest sedan record recently beaten by the Jaguar XE SV Project 8.
For the NRING editions Alfa Romeo has applied a coat of special ‘Circuito Grey’ matte finish paint to the body matched with side skirts, mirror caps, and grille inserts in carbon fibre, while the interior features a special numbered plaque on a carbon fibre dash insert, carbon fibre backed Sparco seats with racy red stitching, a Mopar gear shifter, and an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel.
Both vehicles are powered by a Ferrari-sourced twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 producing 375kw and 600nm. In terms of acceleration, the rear-wheel drive Giulia needs just 3.9 seconds to hit 100kph, while the all-wheel drive Stelvio requires just 3.8 seconds. An eight-speed automatic gearbox, and carbon ceramic brakes are standard regardless of bodystyle.
Alfa Romeo will only offer 108 units of each model - keeping it in line with Alfa’s 108th birthday this year – with every lucky owner of the NRING Edition receiving a 1:18 scale model of the chosen car, a specific welcome Kit – including a set of Sparco race gloves, an Alfa-branded sports bag, special cufflinks, a customised jacket and a pair of race shoes. You also score an invitation to an Alfa Romeo experience with a driving course at the Nürburgring, as well as exclusive certification issued by FCA Heritage, underlining these limited editions' collectors' value.
